MEET ZEKE
Daniel "Zeke" Balan has dedicated his life to making the world a better place. As a young U.S. Army Interrogator, he was amongst the first group of soldiers to deploy to Afghanistan after the attacks of 9/11. As a licensed architect, he has led urban design and building projects to protect traditional neighborhood development and build innovative solutions to today's challenges, both at home and abroad. He is the founding partner of a town architecture firm dedicated to durable, economic, and beautiful residential and commercial construction. Dan also currently serves as the chair of the Boonton Historical Preservation Commission and on the Boonton Main Street partnership committee for the Neighborhood Preservation Program in our historic Main Street business district.
Dan is a "recent native" of Boonton, having found the home of his family's dreams. As the son of a career Air Force officer, Dan grew up moving across the country learning the importance of civic service and the benefits of a strong family culture. After completing his own military service overseas, he settled in New Jersey to attend Rutgers University. While completing his degree, he worked construction and taught at a K-12 school in New Brunswick.
Dan and his wife, Margaret, have been married twenty-one years. They have eight children with whom he enjoys camping, hiking, and trips to the shore.
